Inglis's Melbourne Great Southern Sale, which produced the triple Group 1 winner Mongolian Khan (Aus) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}), begins its four-day run at Oaklands Junction on Sunday. The first two days see weanlings go under the hammer, with Sunday exclusively for select weanlings. The select session continues on Monday and is followed by general weanlings. There are a total of 459 weanlings catalogued, including the progeny of leading sires like Written Tycoon (Aus), So You Think (NZ), Sebring (Aus), More Than Ready, I Am Invincible (Aus), Choisir (Aus) and Hinchinbrook (Aus). There are 22 first-season sires represented, including Brazen Beau (Aus), Toronado (Ire), Deep Field (Aus), Dissident (Aus), Puissance De Lune (Ire) and Wandjina (Aus).

The 284 broodmares catalogued on day three include Group 3 winner Scarlett Billows (Aus) (Street Boss) (lot 497), as well as mares in foal to the likes of Written Tycoon, I Am Invincible, Foxwedge (Aus), Nicconi (Aus), Sebring, So You Think and Brazen Beau.

Inglis's Victorian Bloodstock Manager Simon Vivian said, “The Inglis team spent a lot of time canvassing our clients and encouraging them to support the sale with quality stock. The weanling session has attracted some outstanding pinhook and racing opportunities. In recent years, we have seen horses like Mongolian Khan graduate to Group 1 success on the track, while many pinhooked youngsters have afforded their purchasers massive returns.”
