Upset winner of the GIII Autumn Miss S. at Santa Anita as recently as Oct. 29, Spendthrift Farm's Cover Song (3, Fastnet Rock {Aus}–Misty For Me {Ire}, by Galileo {Ire}) proved the dearest offering of the supplemental entries for Monday's sale, hammering to celebrity chef Bobby Flay for $1.6 million. A $450,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase by the Spendthrift braintrust, the impeccably bred daughter of Irish highweight Misty For Me is a half to GSW & G1SP Roly Poly (War Front) and hails from the extended female family of Ballydoyle (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Classic-placed and leading Korean sire Menifee. Hip 174 was offered on the account of Spendthrift, who, of course, was represented by GI Breeders' Cup Distaff winner Beholder (Henny Hughes).
