Five Galileos in Arqana October Catalogue

A total of 609 yearlings-five by Coolmore champion sire Galileo (Ire)–comprise the four-day Arqana October Yearling Sale from Oct. 22-25. Graduates of the Deauville sale include Eclipse Award victress Sistercharlie (Ire) (Myboycharlie {Ire}), who has already saluted the judge in the GI Beverly D. S. and GI Diana H. this term; G1 Queen Anne S. hero Lord Glitters (Fr) (Whipper) and G1 Prix de Diane Longines third Grand Glory (GB) (Olympic Glory {Ire}). The sale kicks off with 162 lots at 3 p.m. local time on Oct. 22 followed by 181 lots at the same time on Oct. 23. The third session begins at 2 p.m., while the fourth and final session features 90 yearlings starting at 11 a.m.

Notable yearlings on offer in 2019 are Galileo (Ire)'s colt (lot 12) out of Australian MG1SW Sea Siren (Aus) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) consigned by Haras de l'Hotellerie and another colt by that luminary is the Haras des Capucines-consigned son of G1 Thousand Guineas heroine Amicus (Aus) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) as (lot 48). Galileo's half-brother Sea The Stars has a colt (lot 36) offered by Haras de l'Hotellerie who is a half-brother to G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Wonderment (Ire) (Camelot {GB}) and an Ecurie des Monceaux filly (lot 98) who shares the same second dam as G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe victress Danedream (Ger) (Lomitas {GB}). Frankel (GB)'s filly out of MGSW and G1 Diamond Jubilee S. third Restiadargent (Fr) (Kendargent {Fr}) (lot 159) sells from Haras de Colleville; while a son of Invincible Spirit (Ire) (lot 136) out of a Mr. Greeley half-sister to MG1SW Shalaa (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) represents Ecurie des Monceaux. Standout French sires Siyouni (Fr) (16) and Le Havre (Ire) (18) field hearty numbers. The former sees a filly (lot 80) whose dam is a half-sister to MG1SW Moonlight Cloud (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) slated to go through the ring from the draft of Haras de la Perelle. The latter has an Ecurie des Monceaux colt (lot 152) who is a half-brother to the dam of champion and Classic winner Chicquita (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}) and Magic Wand (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}).

Among the yearlings representing international sires is lot 85, a Haras d'Etreham-consigned War Front filly out of a Montjeu (Ire) half-sister to the dams of G1 Phoenix S. victor Siskin (First Defence) and MGISW Close Hatches (First Defence); as well as a Medaglia d'Oro daughter of MGSP Glory (Tapit) (lot 92) from the draft of Coulonces Sales from the family of GI Matriarch S. victress Dress To Thrill (Ire) (Danehill).

In 2018, 451 yearlings found new homes at a 79% clearance rate. The gross was €18,212,700, with an average of €40,383 and a median of €26,000. A son of Siyouni (Fr) brought a sale-topping bid of €360,000 from Kerri Radcliffe.

The Haras de Bouquetot-October Sale Criterium, reserved for juveniles sold at the 2018 sale, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 at ParisLongchamp and is worth €275,000, with purse money distributed down to eighth place. The winner receives €137,500, while the breeders of the first three home will be rewarded with a free covering to Shalaa (Ire) (first), Olympic Glory (Ire) (second) and Zelzal (Fr) for third. Five-hundred eighty-three of the 609 yearlings to be offered qualified for the 2020 edition.
