China Horse Club colourbearer First Seal (Aus) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) is preparing for a spring campaign that will kick off in the G2 Golden Pendant S. Rosehill Sept. 24, trainer John Thompson told Racing and Sports. The now 5-year-old mare bested Winx (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}) twice when the pair were 3-year-olds, in the G2 Tea Rose S. and G1 Flight S. First Seal won last season's G2 Millie Fox S. and was second in the G1 Canterbury S., but was 12th of 15 behind Winx when last seen in the G1 Doncaster Mile. First Seal is expected to trial at Rosehill on Friday.
“At this stage we're starting off in the mares' races,” Thompson told Racing and Sports. “We're coming into the spring so there's plenty of options there depending on what she's doing at the time.”
