Zeltzer Thoroughbreds' Finest City (City Zip), last seen winning the GI Breeders' Cup F/M Sprint, prepped for her return in Saturday's GII Santa Monica S. with a bullet five-furlong work in 1:00.20 over Santa Anita's training track Sunday.
“We had to play it by ear dealing with the weather that altered training schedules, but we managed to dance through the raindrops and she's doing fine,” trainer Ian Kruljac said. “We're ready to run and we're ready to go. She's fine; she's fit.”
Saturday may be a big day for the connections of Finest City, who could be named 2016 Eclipse champion female sprinter when the awards are announced at Gulfstream Saturday evening.
