Easy Dance Design Win For Big Bad Bob's Bocca Baciata

Bocca Baciata | Racing Post

Having beaten a pair of fillies in Pleascach (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}) and Diamondsandrubies (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) who would go on to win three Group 1 races between them in the Listed Salsabil S. over 10 furlongs at Navan Apr. 18, it is a surprise that it has taken this long for Bocca Baciata to register a first group success but she made up for lost time with a dominant display here. Fifth behind Pleascach in the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas May 24, the dark bay was all at sea on Royal Ascot's fast surface when ninth in the June 18 G3 Tercentenary S. returning to a mile and a quarter before finishing strongly to be third in the nine-furlong G2 Kilboy Estate S. at this venue last time July 19. Ridden with typical restraint by Fran Berry towards the rear early, she arrived on the front end looking much the best approaching the furlong pole and was pushed out to comfortably outclass her rivals. “I'm delighted to have her back, as we were having a little bit of a difficult summer with her,” trainer Jessica Harrington said. “Fran said she felt like she did in Navan today. She likes that ground. I haven't made any plans and it's all about the ground. She's in the [Sept. 13] G2 Blandford S. here and may come back if the ground is okay, but wouldn't if there was any mention of firm. The mile and a quarter seems to suit her, but towards the end of the year she may go up to a mile and a half as she keeps galloping.” Sunday, Curragh, Ireland DANCE DESIGN FILLIES S.-G3, €60,000, CUR, 8-30, 3yo/up, f/m, 9fT, 1:55.31, sf. 1–@BOCCA BACIATA (IRE), 126, f, 3, by Big Bad Bob (Ire) 1st Dam: Sovana (Ire), by Desert King (Ire) 2nd Dam: Piacenza (Ire), by Darshaan (GB) 3rd Dam: Kahara (Ire), by Habitat (€230,000 yrl '13 GOFORB).
