Ghaiyyath (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) endured an enforced sabbatical after annexing last term's G3 Autumn S., but made light of a 343-day absence to garner Saturday's G3 Prix du Prince d'Orange at ParisLongchamp. The sheet topper at Goffs' 2015 November Foal sale had bettered a debut third going one mile at Doncaster when graduating by five lengths and more tackling Newmarket's Rowley Mile next time Sept. 28 and earned a first stakes rosette in an Oct. 14 G3 Autumn S. featuring subsequent G1 Irish St Leger hero Flag of Honour (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) back at Headquarters in his only other start last time. Positioned second in the wake of Stage Magic (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) for most of this belated return, the 19-10 favourite cruised to the front as that stablemate began to wilt at the quarter-mile marker and kept on strongly once shaken up soon after to easily hold the vain effort of Sacred Life (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) by three lengths. “We've always thought he was good, but he suffered a few setbacks and we had to take him off the [G1 Epsom] Derby trail,” explained Godolphin's Alex Merriam. “He achieved what we wanted him to, it's nice to see him win after such a long time off and Charlie [Appleby] has done a great job to have him fit enough. There are no definite plans at this stage, Charlie's on a plane back from Australia and will see how he comes out of this before making any decisions.”

Ghaiyyath is one of three stakes performers bred from G1 Irish 1000 Guineas heroine Nightime (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), herself the leading light for Listed Platinum S. winner Caumshinaun (Ire) (Indian Ridge {Ire}), and he is a half GI Man o' War S. victress Zhukova (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) and Listed Salsabil S. third Sleeping Beauty (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}), who in turn is the dam of last term's GIII With Anticipation S. runner-up Irish Territory (Ire) (Declaration of War). The bay is also kin to the twice-raced 2-year-old filly Estrella (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}) and a colt foal by Dubawi (Ire). His fourth dam Casting Couch (Thatching {Ire}) is kin to GIII Selima S. victress Tycoon's Drama (Ire) (Last Tycoon {Ire}) and hails from the family of GI Sword Dancer Invitational hero King's Drama (Ire) (King's Theatre {Ire}).
