RECKLING (c, 2, Dialed In–Cash Reserve, by Distorted Humor), one of three with prior experience in this seemingly loaded affair, went right to the front and never looked back to earn his diploma at 5-2. Second behind highly regarded Todd Pletcher-trained 'TDN Rising Star' Theory (Gemologist) first up over track and trip July 30, the dark bay showed increased speed this time to emerge with the early advantage and dole out easy splits of :22.65 and :46.33. Newcomer Mo Town (Uncle Mo), who probably took the most notable tote action of the firsters for Anthony Dutrow, mounted a bid in the clear past the quarter pole, but Reckling had more in reserve and stiff-armed that foe for a 1 1/4-length victory. Monaco (Uncle Mo), a $1.3-million OBS March purchase who seemed chilly on the board considering his connections, showed some early interest before settling for sixth. Reckling, the sixth winner for his freshman sire (by Mineshaft), also flattered the ability of female stablemate and fellow Heiligbrodt colorbearer Runway Doll (Majestic Affair), who had worked in company with Reckling before airing by 13 1/2 lengths in the slop here July 31 to earn the 'Rising Star' moniker. A $70,000 KEEJAN short yearling who RNA'd for $75,000 at OBS April after covering an eighth in :10 2/5, Reckling is a grandson of 1991 GII Alcibiades S. winner and GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies runner-up Private Treasure (Explodent). A then-weanling full-brother to the winner brought just $4,000 at last year's Keeneland November sale, and his dam produced a Yes It's True filly earlier this year. She was bred back to Race day.
