Dark Angel's Persuasive Stays Perfect in the Atalanta

Persuasive | Racing Post

Persuasive was up and running with wins at Kempton Nov. 4 and Goodwood May 20, and continued her unblemished run at Chelmsford in her penultimate start June 1. Retaining her unbeaten tally when going four-for-four in Royal Ascot's June 15 Listed Sandringham H. last time, she outclassed her rivals in her fifth straight one-mile start here to claim a perfect five and career high. Cheveley Park Stud's grey was kept under wraps racing towards the back of midfield after the early exchanges of this pattern-race bow. Shaken up approaching the final quarter mile, the 6-4 favourite cruised into contention soon after and surged clear once quickening to the front at the distance to open up a three-length margin on Blond Me (Ire) (Tamayuz {GB}), with Lucy the Painter (Ire) (Excellent Art {GB}) 3/4-of-a-length back in third. “We'd freshened her up since Ascot, it worked and she did it very nicely,” said trainer John Gosden. “She's a talented, progressive filly, but there's no decision on where she goes next. She is well entered up, though.” Elaborating on those entries, Cheveley Park Stud's Chris Richardson added, “She was very impressive and has done very well since Royal Ascot. We'll have to see how we get on, but we will be considering races like the [Sept. 10 G1] Matron [S. at Leopardstown] and the [Oct. 1 G1] Sun Chariot [S. at Newmarket]. I'm not sure if we will go straight up to Group 1 [company], but the way she did it today you'd be tempted.”
Persuasive is the second winner out of MGSP dual stakes winner Choose Me (Ire) (Choisir {Aus}), herself out of a winning half-sister to four black-type performers including GSWs Prolix (GB) (Kris {GB}) and Bad Bertrich Again (Ire) (Dowsing). The winner's fourth dam is the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas and G1 Champion S. heroine Cairn Rouge (Ire) (Pitcairn {Ire}), and she is kin to the 2-year-old filly Tisbutadream (Ire) (Dream Ahead) and a yearling filly by Iffraaj {GB}).
