Supplemented into this field on the heels of a victory in the Austrian Derby in suburban Vienna Sept. 4, Medici (Curlin) was sent off the joint third favorite and led at a canter for the first few strides before allowing Victory Bowl (Fr) (Turtle Bowl {Ire}) to take up the running in this three-turn affair. Medici was asked to go coming off the final corner, switched out to the middle of the track and did the best work late to score by daylight. Medici began his career in New York, with a pair of unplaced efforts in 2015 for trainer Tom Albertrani. Click for a video replay.
