Curlin

3rd-Belmont, $73,500, Msw, 6-22, 3yo/up, f/m, 1m, 1:37.04, ft.

TIGALALU (f, 3, Curlin">Curlin–The Winged Venus, by Rock Hard Ten), a bit overlooked at 7-1 in this debut, seized the early advantage, ticking off early fractions of :23.21 and :46.63. Challenged by a pair of rivals entering the far turn, the chestnut found another gear in the stretch, easily cruising clear of her rivals under a motionless Jose Lezcano to win by 7 3/4 lengths. We Are Family (Into Mischief) completed the exacta. The winner is the first foal out of The Winged Venus, who has since produced the juvenile colt Tiberius Mercurius (The Factor), the yearling filly Transporter (Twirling Candy) and a 2018 Tonalist colt named Theodosius. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $45,000. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
