China Horse Club Buys Siyouni Share

Siyouni | Aga Khan Studs

The China Horse Club, through agent Mick Flanagan, secured a share in leading French sire Siyouni (Fr) for €330,000 through Arqana Online Friday. It was the fourth share in the popular young sire to be sold through Arqana's online platform, one of which was bought by the China Horse Club for €360,000 Jan. 13. The other two both sold late last year for €355,000 to Hesmonds Stud and Merriebelle Stable, respectively.

Eighteen bids were made during the online auction yesterday, with Flanagan making the winning click. He said, “We are delighted to be involved in such an exciting young sire as Siyouni, who is supported by an extremely solid infrastructure in the Aga Khan Studs. We are very comfortable with the average price of the two shares we bought, which looks like good value. The China Horse Club has been investing increasingly in stallion shares around the world, both as an investment and as part of a long-term plan to grow our broodmare band. The mares that will visit Siyouni will probably stay in France so that their progeny becomes eligible for the French premiums. It hasn't been decided yet whether we will race or sell the resulting foals.”

Siyouni, who is booked full for 2016, stands at the Aga Khan's Haras de Bonneval for €30,000. His progeny include last year's triple Group 1-winning filly Ervedya (Fr) and three Group 3 winners.
