Candy Ride Colt Proves Best in Zia Park Derby

Cedartown | Coady

Cedartown graduated at third asking with a 5 1/4-length score at Monmouth Park Aug. 19 and missed by a neck next out at Keeneland Oct. 20, but was promoted to first after the winner was DQ'd. Sent off at 7-1 in this stakes debut, the $620,000 FTFMAR buy tracked from fourth off moderate early fractions. Rallying just off the flank of Chief Know It All rounding the far turn, Cedartown took control in early stretch and forged clear to score his first black-type victory. The winner is a half-brother to recently retired “TDN Rising Star” and MGSW Danzing Candy (Twirling Candy), as well as the yearling colt Art Object (Twirling Candy). He has a weanling full-brother and his dam visited Candy Ride again this season. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
