'Born' Tops Tatts Ireland Ascot Nov.

The single session Tattersalls Ireland Ascot November Sale saw 92 lots sell for a gross of £420,900 from 141 offered on Thursday. The clearance rate was 65.2%, while the average was £4,575 (-3.2%), and the median dropped to £2,000 (-20%).

Topping the sale was Born To Size (Ger) (Sholokhov {Ire}) (lot 153), a 5-year-old gelding from the consignment of Liam Burke's Winacre Stables, who sold for £35,000 to Tom Malone. A four-length winner at Thurles in a beginners chase, Born To Size's third dam is Premio Mil Guineas heroine Blumme (Chi) (Jadar {Chi}).

“A wide selection of customers arrived at the Tattersalls Ireland Ascot Sales ring today representing a number of European countries and competing with domestic trainers and agents for predominantly form horses,” said Richard Pugh, Director of Horses in Training Sales at Tattersalls Ireland. Last year's sale saw significant increases in turnover (+53%), median (+44%) and average (+8%) and we are happy that this year's sale closely matched last year's results. There is an appetite at Ascot for form horses and performing point to pointers.”
