Bode Miller, a gold medallist in skiing at the 2010 Winter Olympic games, has secured an interest in GIII JACK Cincinnati Casino Spiral S. winner Fast and Accurate (Hansen) and will race the colt in partnership with owner Kendall Hansen.

“Bode is a very intelligent man and a good horseman,” said Hansen, a Northern Kentucky physician. “He learned a lot about physiology from his work on the U.S. Olympic Team, and he's relaying that knowledge to horse racing as well. He sees what we see up close [in Fast and Accurate], and he realizes we do actually have an outside chance to win, even though on paper it doesn't exactly look that way. I remember crossing out [2009 Kentucky Derby winner] Mine That Bird, who had no chance.”

He added, “A couple of mutual friends got us together, because we've both been known to be somewhat eccentric and fun-loving. It's fun to be paired up with him. I'm looking forward to hanging out with him on Kentucky Derby day.”

The Pennsylvania-bred broke his maiden at fourth asking for a $30,000 tag over the Turfway Polytrack Dec. 4 and made a successful 3-year-old debut in a non black-type stakes over the Gulfstream turf course Feb. 20. A 24-1 chance in the Spiral, Fast and Accurate raced handy to a strong early pace and outstayed his rivals to score by 3/4 of a length.

In the immediate aftermath of the Spiral, Harvey Diamond and partners' Skychai Racing also purchased an interest in the colt and sold a portion to Sand Dollar Stable. Skychai was also partners in 2011 juvenile champion Hansen.

Miller is also a part-owner in En Hanse (Hansen), a three-time winner, including the WEBN S. in February.
