Best Goes Deep for 'Pharoah' Colt

American Pharoah | Sherackatthetrack

Sierra Farm turned a quick and massive return on the $375,000 they gave for the mare Bsharpsonata (Pulpit) at the 2016 Keeneland November sale when selling the American Pharoah colt she was carrying (hip 729) at the time for $1.4 million towards the end of the session at Keeneland September. A May 13 foal, the bay colt is the latest produce for his dam, a multiple Grade II winner and multiple Grade I-placed on the dirt and responsible for three black-type performers, including GSPs Vigilante (Tiznow) and Play It Loud (Unbridled's Song). Larry Best was making his second purchase of the September sale, having signed the ticket on a son of Curlin-Molly Morgan for $1.8 million during Monday's opening day of bidding. It was the third seven-figure yearling for the Triple Crown winner at the September sale.
