Arrogate Works for Pacific Classic

Arrogate | Sarah K. Andrew

'TDN Rising Star' Arrogate (Unbridled's Song) continued preparations for the GI TVG Pacific Classic Aug. 19 with a seven-furlong workout in 1:25.20 (1/1) at Del Mar Tuesday.

With jockey Martin Garcia in the irons, the gray broke off from the five-furlong pole and worked about five lanes out from the rail. Track clockers caught him in splits of :25.20, :37.20, :48.40, 1:00.60 and 1:12.60. The Juddmonte Farms colorbearer galloped out a mile in 1:38.20.

Arrogate's seven-race winning streak, which included spectacular victories in the GI Breeders' Cup Classic, GI Pegasus World Cup Invitational and G1 Dubai World Cup, ended with a dull fourth as the 1-20 chalk in the GII San Diego H. at Del Mar last time July 22.

“It was a serious work,” Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert said.

“He didn't need much encouragement. He's showing no signs [of regressing]–he's moving forward. I've seen a big difference in him since that last race. He's back to his old self again.”

Baffert added that Arrogate would work again next Monday in his final major move before Pacific Classic.
