Sheikh Mohammed continued a welcomed spending spree Wednesday at Keeneland and acquired a filly by Coolmore inmate Uncle Mo for the second consecutive session, going to $1.1 million for an April Fools Day-foaled daughter of the talented turf distaffer Bizzy Caroline (Afleet Alex) from the Runnymede Farm draft. Bizzy Caroline is a daughter of Sacre Coeur (Saint Ballado), whose more prominent claim to fame is having produced Lady Eli (Divine Park), the reigning Eclipse Award-winning turf female, a Grade I winner each year from two to five and who will make an appearance in the Keeneland Sales Pavilion in two months’ time as one of the star turns of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. Hip 703 is the fifth yearling sired by a current or former Coolmore stallion scooped up by Godolphin this week (American Pharoah x2, Uncle Mo x 2 and a Giant’s Causeway). With the purchase of hip 703, Godolphin’s spend over the first three days of the sale–including a pair of horses for its Japanese arm–totals $16.2 million for 21 head.
