An Impending Godolphin Winner?

Impending | Racing And Sports

The A$1,000,000 G1 Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas is the most valuable Group 1 of the day and a field of 14 colts line up for the 1600m event. The result of G2 Stan Fox S. run at Rosehill Sept. 24 would appear to hold the key to this race. The first three home on that occasion, headed by the John O'Shea trained winner Impending (Aus) (Lonhro {Aus}), will all lock horns again and team Godolphin will be hoping their colt, who has drawn gate 10, can continue their successful recent run. “He has had a great preparation this spring and we have kept him at Osborne Park following his Stan Fox Stakes win,” said John O'Shea. “He's had three gallops the Melbourne way since his win and he has been very effective. From the gate he is likely to be back in the field a little but this shouldn't be a problem given his racing pattern. We're happy with the way he is going,” he added. There wasn't much between the first three in the Stan Fox with Divine Prophet (Aus) (Choisir {Aus}) and Good Standing (Aus) (Artie Schiller) just a neck and three parts of a length behind and connections of each will be hoping to turn around the form. Another with a major chance is the progressive Hey Doc (Aus) (Duporth {Aus}). The gelding is bidding for a four timer having worked his way up the handicap route and last time he made a successful leap into pattern company winning the G2 Stutt S. at Moonee Valley Sept. 30 for trainer Tony McEvoy and jockey Luke Currie. He had both Land Of Plenty (Aus) Stratum {Aus}) and Kaching (Aus) (So You Think {NZ}) behind him in second and third that day and he warrants the utmost respect.
