'Lucy' Looks to Take Arcadia by 'Storm'

Following a 65-1 upset of Del Mar's GI Matriarch S. Nov. 29, Steve Moger's Stormy Lucy (Stormy Atlantic) looks to duplicate that effort at Santa Anita in Sunday's GIII Robert J. Frankel S. Winner of the GIII Santa Barbara H. in 2014, the Ed Moger Jr. pupil unleashed a furious late rally to score her first win since in the Matriarch following a third in the GI Rodeo Drive S. here Sept. 26 and a fifth in Del Mar's GII Goldikova S. Nov. 1.

RMJ Stables' Rusty Slipper (Lemon Drop Kid) also enters this test off a win at Del Mar last time in the GIII Red Carpet H. Nov. 21. Victorious in the restricted One Dreamer S. at Kentucky Downs two starts prior Sept. 19, the Graham Motion trainee finished fourth in Belmont's GIII Athenia S. Oct. 17.

Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, Fox Hill Farms' Glory (Tapit) started her career on the dirt where she wracked up a record of 6-1-2-1, including a Grade III placing. Switched to the turf two back, the bay scored back-to-back optional claimer victories, first sprinting over this course Oct. 1 and then extended to 1 1/16 miles at Del Mar Nov. 7.

Returning to the turf for the first time in over a year is Benjamin Warren's Warren Veneda (Affirmative), who captured both the GII Santa Maria S. and GI Santa Maragarita S. on the main track here last term. Third behind two-time Eclipse winner Beholder (Henny Hughes) three back in Del Mar's GI Clement L. Hirsch S. Aug. 1, the Craig Lewis pupil was seventh behind that rival next out in the GI Zenyatta S. Sept. 26. The chestnut was last seen filling that same spot in the GI Breeders' Cup Distaff S. at Keeneland Oct. 30.

Qatar Racing's Peace and War (War Front) also returns to the grass for the first time since her 2014 European campaign. Trained by Graham Motion, the bay finished third in the GI Cotillion S. Sept. 19 and 12th in the Distaff before checking in fifth in Aqueduct's GIII Comely S. last time Nov. 28.
