Shanghai Bobby Weanling Tops F-T Saratoga Fall Sale

The single session of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Fall Sale was held Monday with mixed results as compared to last year's two-day sale. A total of 162 horses were sold from the 374 hips catalogued for an average of $17,493. There were 138 lots that did not sell. Last year, 431 horses were catalogued over two sessions. A total of 193 horses sold at the 2014 sale and 138 RNA'd. The average was $16,612 last year and the median stayed consistent at $10,000.

A weanling colt by Coolmore's first-crop sire Shanghai Bobby, hip 191, topped the sale at $140,000. The New York-bred weanling was purchased by Adrian Regan and Fergus Galvin's Hunter Valley Farm. The gray colt was bred by Hidden Lake Farm and Anthony Grey and is out of stakes winner Electric Shock (Cure the Blues). Rhapsody Farm purchased Electric Shock for $22,000 at the 2012 Keeneland November Sale. Hip 191 was consigned by RF HF Bloodstock LLC, agent.
