Curalina to Distaff

Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners' Curalina (Curlin), cross-entered in both the GI Twinspires Breeders' Cup F/M Sprint and GI Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff, will start in Friday's Distaff.

“We felt she was accomplished around two turns,” trainer Todd Pletcher said of the GI Acorn S. winner. “We just felt it was a better natural trip for her. She's trained exceptionally well. She's versatile enough that it was certainly worth investigating the F/M Sprint. In that type of racing, there's a lot of early speed. A race like that could set up for her, but at the end of the day, we felt she was better at running a mile and an eighth.”

Pletcher will also saddle Got Lucky (A.P. Indy) and Stopchargingmaria (Tale of the Cat) in the Distaff, as well as eight other Breeders' Cup runners. Amont his championship contingent are Dirt Mile contender Liam's Map (Unbridled's Song), Mile hopeful Mshawish (Medaglia d'Oro) and Turf runner Red Rifle (Giant's Causeway).

“All of my horses have had their final breezes,” Pletcher said. “We've had a good couple weeks of training here; we had some good final breezes here. Everyone seems to be doing well.”
