James McIngvale's GI TwinSpires Breeders' Cup Sprint contender Runhappy (Super Saver) breezed a best-of-32 five furlongs from the gate at Keeneland in :57.80 Wednesday. The sophomore was vanned over from trainer Maria Borell's base at The Thoroughbred Center north of Lexington that morning for his first work since capturing Keeneland's GIII Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix S. Oct. 2.

With exercise rider Marcus O'Donnell aboard, the bay was clocked in splits of :12.20, :23.20, :34.60, :45.40 and :57.80 with a gallop out in 1:10.60.

“It was beautiful. I'm happy,” Borell said. She added that the reason for working Runhappy from the gate was “just to sharpen him up a little bit, especially if we draw the dreadful rail again. He broke a lot better today. I think he's pretty good at this point.”

The bay, who has only lost once in his six-race career when extended past a mile in the GIII LeComte S. Jan. 17, romped in Saratoga's GI NYRA.com King's Bishop S. Aug. 29 prior to his defeat of recently retired champion Work All Week (City Zip) in the Phoenix last time. Runhappy will remain at The Thoroughbred Center until the week of the Breeders' Cup.
