Knicks Go Yearling Brings Moore Full Circle at Keeneland January

Sabrina Moore's GreenMount Farm will offer its final consignment during next week's Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale and, fittingly, the consignment's three offerings kick off with a short yearling from the first crop of the champion who put the Maryland farm on the map, Knicks Go. "It's a little bittersweet that this is going to be my last consignment," Moore admitted. "But it will kind of come full circle, hopefully." Moore and her mother Angie co-bred Knicks Go and sold the son of the late Paynter for $40,000...

Last year's GI Breeders' Cup Classic winner and likely Horse of the Year Knicks Go (Paynter) was named Top Midlantic-Bred of 2021 in the Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred/The Racing Biz Top Midlantic-bred Poll. It's the second straight year he's earned Top Midlantic-Bred honors. "To see him win this award not once but twice is incredible," said Sabrina Moore, who along with her mother Angie, bred Knicks Go in Maryland. Bittersweet Endings and New Beginnings at GreenMount

All good things must come to an end, they say, so on Friday Sabrina Moore, who co-bred the horse recently named the 2021 Longines World's Best Racehorse, boarded one last flight to watch Knicks Go (Paynter) make his final career start in the GI Pegasus World Cup before he begins stud duty at Taylor Made Farm. Knicks Go Adds Dash to Paynter's Palette

It's a tough game, selling nominations; and, except for those sparkly new stallions, getting tougher all the time. So we should have every sympathy with the farms trying to drum up custom. True, WinStar doesn't hold back in introducing Paynter on his homepage as "one of the most popular and courageous runners in racing history." But if that's a pretty heady claim, even for a horse whose recovery from desperate illness so captured the hearts of the racing public, then the son of Awesome Again has certainly moved the conversation...
