Former New York Stallion Cosmonaut Euthanized

Cosmonaut (Lemon Drop Kid--Cosmic Fire, by Capote), a four-time Grade III winner and third in the 2007 GI Breeders' Cup Mile, was euthanized Oct. 29 at Cornell Equine Hospital due to complications from surgery. He was 19 years of age. Bred in Kentucky by Patricia Pavlish, Cosmonaut was purchased by trainer Carlos Martin on behalf of Carl Lizza's Flying Zee Stable for $105,000 at the 2003 Keeneland September Sale and was a two-time winner and runner-up in the 2005 Commonwealth Turf. Will's Way Passes Away at Old Friends Cabin Creek

Will's Way (Easy Goer--Willamae, by Tentam), whose racing career was highlighted by a hard-fought victory in the 1996 GI Travers S., passed away Dec. 24 at Old Friends at Cabin Creek in Greenfield Center, NY. He was just over a week shy of celebrating his 28th birthday. Campaigned by Rudlein Stable and trained by H.  Grade I winner Next Question (Stormy Atlantic--Seattle Stardust, by Slew City Slew) was euthanized Jan. 16 at Old Friends at Cabin Creek due to complications from a paddock accident. He was 12. Next Question initially retired to Old Friends at Cabin Creek in 2014, where he lived for one year before returning to his owners, Three Diamonds Farm, for a second career.
