Neolithic Confirmed for Pegasus Cup

Starlight Racing's Neolithic (Harlan's Holiday) will compete in the inaugural $12-million GI Pegasus World Cup Invitational Jan. 28 at Gulfstream Park, the racing partnership confirmed Wednesday. Conditioned by Todd Pletcher, the dark bay romped by nine lengths in a 1 1/16-mile allowance race in Hallandale Dec. 14. Starlight founder and co-managing partner Jack Wolf also serves as the CEO of the Pegasus World Cup.

“The race is shaping up to be one for the ages with the likes of California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit) and Arrogate (Unbridled's Song),” said Wolf. “But, Neolithic showed some real talent and class with his win at Gulfstream Park last month and has been training great since that race. We are excited to be part of such a big day for horse racing.”

The newly turned 4-year-old–who will race under the ownership of Starlight Pegasus Partners–bounced back well from his victory with a bullet four-furlong breeze in :48.60 (1/30) at Palm Beach Downs on New Year's Eve. The colt is a son of Harlan's Holiday, who carried the Starlight colors to wins in Gulfstream's GI Florida Derby and GI Donn H., the predecessor to the Pegasus World Cup.
