Japanese Quartet Heading Down Under

Four Japanese gallopers–To the World (Jpn) (King Kamehameha {Jpn}), Real Impact (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}), Tosen Stardom (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) and World Ace (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn})–are Sydney-bound for the 2015 The Championships at Royal Randwick in April, it was announced yesterday. To the World and Tosen Stardom will be aimed at the A$4-million G1 Longines Queen Elizabeth S. (2000m) Saturday, Apr. 11, with World Ace and Real Impact tackling the A$3-million G1 The Star Doncaster Mile (1600m) a week earlier.

To the World, winner of the G2 Hochi Hai Yayoi Sho, finished a game second behind the brilliant racemare Gentildonna (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) in the prestigious G1 Arima Kinen Dec. 28. Real Impact, hero of the 2011 G1 Yasuda Kinen, won his second straight G2 Hanshin Cup last weekend. Tosen Stardom was last seen capturing the G3 Challenge Cup Dec. 13 while three-time stakes winner World Ace won the 2014 G2 Yomiuri Milers Cup.

“These four horses are serious competitors on the world stage,” said Racing NSW Chairman John Messara. “We are very pleased that the connections of the quartet have made the decision to come to Sydney for The Championships. We have no doubt they will be very competitive and should bring with them immense interest from the Japanese media. On the back of an extremely successful 2014 The Championships, the confirmation of these four Japanese horses heading their way to Sydney demonstrates what a truly international concept The Championships has become in only its second year.”
