Botti Makes Plans for 'Charline'

Trainer Marco Botti is determined to win a Group 1 in Europe with Team Valor's Euro Charline (GB) (Myboycharlie {Ire}) before she heads off to the GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Santa Anita Park Nov. 4-5. Already a Grade I winner in America, she has been second in the G1 Dubai Turf Mar. 26 and in the G1 Lockinge S. most recently May 14, suggesting a top-level prize should be well within her range. If all goes to plan, her chances will come in the July 8 G1 Falmouth S. and the Oct. 1 G1 Sun Chariot S., both at Newmarket over a mile.

“All is well with her, she was never going to Royal Ascot,” said Botti. “We'll take her straight to the Falmouth and I'm really pleased with her. We want to spread her races out this season if we are going to the Breeders' Cup, as she started in Dubai. March to October would be a big ask. We're thinking she'll probably have a summer break after the Falmouth, and then come back for a race [in the fall], which will probably be the Sun Chariot.

Added Botti, “I'm keen to stay at a mile in Europe with her, but at the Breeders' Cup she'll have no problems over 10 furlongs on a tight track, she's run over nine and a half in Dubai and got it well. Last year she had no luck at all, she's a Grade I winner in the States but I'd love to get one in Europe, she deserves it.”
