Ward's Ascot Winners Breeze in KY

Undrafted | A. Coglianese

Wes Welker and Sol Kumin's Undrafted (Purim) had his first work back since winning Royal Ascot's G1 Diamond Jubilee June 20, covering five panels in 1:04 on a fast main track at Keeneland Wednesday.

“We just wanted to go easy,” said trainer Wesley Ward. “He had a real easy, cruising-time work.”

Ward said Undrafted could make his next start at Kentucky Downs in September.

The Coolmore contingent's Acapulco (Scat Daddy), who scored a scintillating victory in Ascot's G2 Queen Mary S. June 17, also breezed five furlongs Wednesday. The juvenile covered that distance in 1:02 over a firm turf course in Lexington.

“She's doing really good,” Ward said of the filly, who is scheduled to return to England for her next race in the G1 Nunthorpe S. Aug. 21 at York. She will leave for England Aug. 14.
