In anticipation of the arrival of Typhoon Hagibis, the Japan Racing Association has postponed its cards at Tokyo Racecourse on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's card will be run on Oct. 15, while the Sunday program will be pushed back to Monday, Oct. 21. Sunday's G1 Shuka Sho at Kyoto, some 450km southwest of the capital, has yet to be cancelled.

Typhoon Hagibis is expected to bring the strongest rain and winds seen in 60 years when it makes landfall near metro Tokyo late Saturday. Two Rugby World Cup matches set for Sunday have been cancelled, while a Sunday match is in doubt. The Japanese Formula One Grand Prix has postponed practice and qualifying sessions originally set for Saturday to Sunday. Tokyo Disneyland will close on Saturday for the first time for a weather incident since 1984, and most flights, trains and subways will be shut down.
