Tycoon Tops August Sale

Inglis hosted their August Thoroughbred Sale in Melbourne on Friday where 174 lots sold throughout the day producing an aggregate of A$2,015,000. The average finished up at A$11,580 and the clearance rate came in at 79%. Top billing went to lot 166 the 4-year-old gelding Palace Tycoon (Aus) (Testa Rossa {Aus}), a dual winner from the draft of David Moodie's Contract Racing and sold for A$90,000 to Inglis as agent. Contract Racing sold three of the top four lots with dual winner Miss Cooper (Aus) (Medaglia D'Oro), lot 152 selling for A$72,500 to Cornerstone Stud as a breeding prospect while lot 196 Elsedine (Aus) (Encosta de Lago {Aus}) was knocked down to Three Fillies Lodge for A$65,000. Robert Roulston Bloodstock struck for the third highest purchase of the day, lot 150, Wingstack (Aus) (Lonhro {Aus}) for A$70,000 from GSA Bloodstock, while Darby Racing purchased the top of Godolphin's draft when going to $62,000 for Foxwhistle (Aus) (Authorized {Ire}), lot 155. China Horse Club also made their presence felt when going to A$57,000 to secure lot 25 Star Hunter (Aus) (Henrythenavigator). Out of Group 2 winning Flying Spur (Aus) mare Ponton Flyer (Aus), Star Hunter is a half-sister to stakes winners Black Vanquish (Aus) (Lonhro {Aus}) and Minnesota Shark (Aus) (Lonhro {Aus}).
