Raffles of six all-inclusive box seats to both the GI Kentucky Oaks and GI Kentucky Derby will be held by the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF), with all proceeds benefitting the TRF's mission of providing lifetime aftercare to nearly 400 retired racehorses. Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) has donated the boxes, which hold an estimated value of $3,000 for the Oaks and $7,000 for the Derby.
The special on-line raffle boxes are located in Section 324, which is on the third floor overlooking the eighth pole. All reserved seating includes food, as well as non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.
“We give a big thank you to CDI and Chief Executive Officer Bill Carstanjen for donating these boxes on the two biggest days of the year at Churchill,” said TRF Executive Director Maggie Sweet, who was a recent guest on the TDN Writers' Room. “It further demonstrates Churchill's and Mr. Carstanjen's continued support of the TRF and Thoroughbred aftercare.”
The Oaks raffle tickets are $100 per entry and the Derby raffle tickets are $150 per entry. In honor of this year's 151st “Run for the Roses,” only 151 tickets will be sold for each raffle.
The raffle is now open through Apr. 4 at 1 p.m. ET. The winning tickets will be drawn live at the TRF Sanctuary Farm at Chestnut Hall.
