Toronado | Al Shaqab Racing

Al Shaqab Racing's MG1SW Toronado (Ire) (High Chaparral {Ire}–Wana Doo, by Grand Slam) will stand the 2018 Northern Hemisphere season at Haras de Bouquetot in France, Al Shaqab announced Tuesday. The 2013 English highweight has spent the past three covering seasons at The National Stud in Newmarket, England and his oldest foals are yearlings. A winner of the G1 Sussex S. and G1 Queen Anne S., Toronado has also shuttled to Swettenham Stud in New South Wales Australia for three seasons. During last year's Tattersalls December Foal Sale, his first-crop weanlings made 190,000gns, 145,000gns and 120,000gns. A fee will be announced later.

“It has been a pleasure for The Jockey Club to have stood and facilitated Toronado for Al Shaqab Racing at The National Stud,” said Ben Sangster, Chairman of the National Stud. “The horse has covered 365 quality mares during the three years that he has stood with us. Now the horse will return to his owner's stud in France after serving his third Southern Hemisphere season at Swettenham Stud.”

“We are delighted to receive such a high-profile stallion as Toronado here at Bouquetot,” added Benoit Jeffroy, Stud Manager of Haras de Bouquetot. “Al Shaqab Racing have bred some outstanding foals and yearlings by him here at the farm,

including out of Group/Grade 1 mares such as Zagora (Fr), Strawberrydaiquiri (GB), Shotgun Gulch, Scarlet Strike, Eden's Moon, etc. In 2017 we supported him with 25 of Al Shaqab's private mares. We are excited that he will be made available to the French breeders the same year as his first 2-year-olds are going to hit the track.”
