Times Improve At Te Rapa Day Two

Juveniles making their way on course at Te Rapa | NZB

Under slightly improved weather conditions to Monday, 194 juveniles breezed on Tuesday at Te Rapa Racecourse for the second and final breeze session for the NZB Ready To Run Sale. The times were slightly quicker in general on Tuesday with a pair of colts from the same consignor coming in under ten seconds. Lot 239, by Rip Van Winkle (Ire) and lot 243 by Poet's Voice (GB), both offered by Riverrock Farm stopped the clock at 9.94 and 9.95 respectively, the fastest times of the day. All the times can be viewed here and another to show up well was lot 7, a colt by Showcasing (GB) who completed his breeze in 10.14 seconds. This half-brother to stakes winner and G1SP Strada Cavallo (NZ) (Alamosa {NZ}) was prepared by Ohukia Lodge whose team were also responsible for the next co-fastest 2-year-old, lot 12, a colt by Denman (Aus). On completion of the days action NZB's bloodstock sales manager Danny Rolston expressed his satisfaction with proceedings so far. “Full credit goes to the vendors and jockeys for presenting and breezing these horses up to such a high standard. With slightly better conditions today we saw faster times but the overall quality of horses has been outstanding. At the conclusion of the last two days I am convinced that we have assembled the best book on type to date,” Rolston said. Video footage of all the breezes will be available at www.nzb.co.nz this Friday and the sale will take place at Karaka Nov. 22-23.
