Time And Motion Captures Wonder Again

Time and Motion | NYRA/Susie Raisher

Time and Motion earned her third-straight victory and her second consecutive stakes triumph with a late-closing win in the Wonder Again S. Fourth in her debut Aug. 31 at Saratoga, she was a good third in the GIII Miss Grillo S. over this course a month later before running a solid fifth in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies' Turf as a maiden at Keeneland Oct. 30. Earning her belated diploma at Gulfstream Park Mar. 20, the homebred stepped right back into stakes company and conquered the Memories of Silver S. Apr. 24 at Aqueduct. Third choice in the wagering in this feature, Time and Motion was away alertly and saved ground in fifth on the clubhouse turn, about four lengths off the speed. Dropping back one spot as the pacesetter clicked off splits of :23.46 and :48.46, she was patiently handled by John Velazquez and continued to hug the rail on the far bend. Gradually taken into the clear in the six path in early stretch, the bay closed strongly up the center of the course to run down Harmonize in the final sixteenth and earn a comfortable decision. Time and Motion's trainer and owner/breeders conditioned the namesake of the race to multiple Grade I stakes victories and over $1.4 million in earnings. They also campaigned Memories of Silver. “It's especially gratifying,” said winning trainer Jimmy Toner. “I was looking at the pictures of Wonder Again in the office this morning and thinking about it. My thought was [that] if it was pouring rain, it would be a typical Wonder Again Day. Fortunately, the rain held off, but she used to love the rain and soft ground. It's exciting to win a racenamed for a horse you've had.” Continued Toner, “It was close, but she was making a run at it. We'll point the [GI] Belmont Oaks [here July 9], that'll be the next target.” The winner's dam was a stakes winner and runner-up in a pair of Grade III events and is a half to MGISW Brian's Time (Roberto). She has a 2-year-old filly by Medaglia d'Oro named Momentiempo, a yearling colt by Medaglia d'Oro and she foaled a full-sister to Time and Motion this term.
