With more heavy rain in the forecast for southern California, Del Mar has canceled their Friday race card according to a social media post from the track. Additionally, Del Mar has carded an extra race day to be held Monday, Nov. 24. The shift will allow the main track additional time to dry while also enabling the use of the turf course on Sunday and Monday. Friday's cancellation marks the second day in as many weeks as the track also was forced to cancel the Nov. 15 card due to...

Capital Partner Closes In A Rush To Become A New 'Rising Star' For Kingman

He nearly ran out of time but Klaravich Stable runner Capital Partner (GB) (Kingman {GB}) put in a furious rally down the middle of the Saratoga turf course Saturday to become a new 'TDN Rising Star'. The debuting colt, purchased for 360,000gns out of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 last season, left himself with plenty of work to do early after getting squeezed back in a tight spot on the run into the first turn. Racing at the back of the second flight under Flavien Prat, the 9-5...

Complexity's Intricate Spirit Airs On The Turf To Become New 'TDN Rising Star'

Despite drifting out to the center of the Saratoga turf course, Intricate Spirit (Complexity) was clearly the class of this field as he aired by open lengths to become a new 'TDN Rising Star' Friday in New York. A $185,000 Keeneland September buy for the late Christophe Clement, the 4-1 shot had shown plenty of morning ability for Christophe's son Miguel indicated by a best-of-42 bullet on the Oklahoma track when going four furlongs in :49 flat July 19 and repeating the time over the same distance July 26 (4/55)....

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - In the first race of her career Friday, Time to Dream (Not This Time) showed that she could very well have been given a fitting name. Off again for several months, Ward brought...

Far Bridge wins at Saratoga
Breeding Digest: A Bridge Across The Channel

Taking the waters proved a fairly literal recreation through opening week at the Spa. Despite short fields and soggy turf, however, there were one or two sunbeams for those who relish a pedigree. 'TDN Rising Star' Far Bridge (English Channel) was scarcely a revelation in outclassing three rivals for the GII Bowling Green Stakes, his fifth graded success in his last seven starts. But his overall body of work and deeper family together demand the opportunity, someday, to extend his sire's legacy at stud. Admittedly Far Bridge's page features little...

Forbidden Kingdom Uncatchable In Joe Hernandez

When a horse has never been outside of the lead at first call in any of his 11 prior races, chances are good that he'll be a contender right from the jump. In this case, despite not having raced over the turf since contesting a five-furlong sprint as a juvenile in Oct. 2021, Forbidden Kingdom (American Pharoah) continued to put that trademark early speed to use and took the field coast-to-coast in the GII Joe Hernandez S. It's been a slow 2023 for the Richard Mandella trainee with only a...
