Timonium Meet Schedule, Purses Announced

Running from Aug. 27 through Sept. 6, this year's seven days of racing held during the Maryland State Fair at Timonium will offer purses of over $287,000 daily, the Maryland State Fair and Agricultural Society announced Tuesday. Trainer Gary Contessa selected a Street Sense filly as grand champion of the 87th annual Maryland Horse Breeders Association (MHBA)'s Yearling Show. Difficulties with the dirt track base repair and cushion resurfacing project at Laurel Park continue to mount, with the loose-ended timetable for the work now expected to extend at least until the start of July.
