Students from the UK and Ireland arrived at The National Stud this week to begin the 2020 TBA Entry to Stud Employment Programme, The National Stud announced on Monday. The 20 students engage in practical work-based training alongside lectures and industry visits for the first nine weeks. Racing Welfare's Newmarket Heath Ride Returns

The Newmarket Heath Ride is scheduled for Sept. 6, Racing Welfare announced on Tuesday. The charity fundraiser will be the first in-person event since the coronavirus pandemic began. Entries will open on Aug. 10, with a 150-rider limit and close on Aug. 31. The sponsored ride starts and finishes at Newmarket's July Course and offers participants rides over eight, 15 or 20-mile routes. National Stud Class Graduates

Despite the ongoing restrictions due to the coronavirus, the 2020 National Stud Diploma ceremony took place via live stream from the Joan Westbrook Lecture Theatre on Friday, the stud announced on Saturday. Besides receiving a National Stud Diploma in Stud Practice and Management, the graduates also earned a 1st 4 Sport Level 3 Certificate in Thoroughbred Stud Practice. Mare owners who breed a filly foal by Aclaim (Ire) in 2021 will have their contracted price discounted by 25% under new terms for the stallion for the forthcoming breeding season. Anna Kerr Appointed COO for The National Stud

Anna Kerr, previously the manager of Goodwood Racecourse's sponsorship portfolio, has been appointed the Chief Operating Officer of The National Stud effective immediately, the Newmarket stud announced on Monday. Kerr first gained experience in the industry under her father, bloodstock agent Bert Kerr, and she is also a graduate of the Irish National Stud Thoroughbred Breeding Course.
