Smiling Tiger Colt Tops WTBOA Summer Yearling and Mixed Sale

For the second time in the last four years, a colt by Smiling Tiger topped the Washington Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association's annual summer sale, which was again held at the WTBOA Sales Pavilion located at Emerald Downs in Auburn, Wa., Aug. 18. The sale topper, Hip 57, was purchased for $70,000 by Brian Koriner, acting on behalf of Jay Em Ess Stable (Samantha Siegel) from the Critter Creek Farm consignment, agent for PT Syndicate #1 LLC. Grand Finale To Summer Sale

The third and final session of Goffs UK's Summer Sale on Wednesday provided the sale's highlight when The Million In Mind Partnership's unbeaten hurdler Grand Roi (Fr) (Spanish Moon) (lot 318) fetched £400,000 from Aidan O'Ryan and trainer Gordon Elliott. The pricetag is the second-highest ever achieved from the annual Million In Mind reduction. TTA Announces Consignor Incentive Program

The Texas Thoroughbred Association has instituted a consignor incentive program for the Aug. 24 Texas Summer Yearling and Horses of Racing Age Sale at Lone Star Park. Thanks to the passage of H.B. 2463, which injects up to $25 million annually into the Texas horse industry, funds are available to rebate up to half of the $400 consignment fee for all horses passing through the ring, including horses not bred in Texas. Arqana Breeze-up Delayed

Arqana president Eric Hoyeau has stated that the company is leaving "no stone unturned" in finding a solution to staging its Breeze-up Sale, which should have taken place but on May 8 and 9 but now cannot following a lockdown extension by the French government. With France remaining under strict constraints until May 11, the Arqana bloodstock team is now in liaison with vendors with regard to rescheduling the sale.
