Churchill Downs President Flanery to Retire at the End of 2020

Churchill Downs Incorporated announced that the Louisville oval's president of 11 years, T. Kevin Flanery, has decided to retire at the end of 2020. Flanery's 15-year tenure at CDI began in December 2005 as vice president of national public affairs. He was named senior vice president of national public affairs and communications in March 2008 before being named the 13th President of Churchill Downs Racetrack and a Senior Vice President of CDI in July 2009. Churchill Delays Opening of Stabling Area Again

Churchill Downs will further delay the reopening of its stable areas at both the racetrack and the auxiliary training center Trackside until Apr. 28. The opening of the 2020 Spring Meet, originally scheduled for Apr. 25, has been postponed with the determination of the exact starting date to be made closer to the opening of the stable areas. Keeneland and Churchill Downs to Ban Lasix in 2-Year-Old Races

Keeneland and Churchill Downs will ban the race-day use of Lasix in all 2-year-old races under the International Medication Protocol authority granted in 810 KAR 8:050 of the Kentucky Administrative Regulations beginning with Keeneland's 2020 Spring Meet and following at Churchill Downs Racetrack's 2020 Spring Meet, according to a joint press release Thursday. Churchill Releases Spring Stakes Schedule

The new date for the GII Stephen Foster H. and the creation of a new mid-meet Stephen Foster Preview Night highlight a record 41-race, $14-million stakes schedule for the upcoming 38-day Spring Meet at Churchill Downs that runs Apr. 25-June 27.
