Stanley Ersoff Passes Away

Stanley Ersoff

Stanley Ersoff, who bred and raced the Grade I winner Charon (Mo Exception) and served as president for the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association (FTBOA), passed away earlier in the week at age 81.

A 1961 graduate from the University of Miami Law School, Ersoff campaigned Charon won to victories in the1990 GI Coaching Club American Oaks, GII Black-Eyed Susan S., GII Bonnie Miss S. and GIII Forward Gal S. Trained by 76-year-old Eugene Navarro, Charon returned in 1991 to win the GII Rampart S. He also campaigned GSW Youmadeyourpoint (Diamond Prospect) and bred MGSW Band Is Passing (Pass the Line).

“He was a really nice guy, he will be missed,” Current FTBOA President Brent Fernung said. “Stanley was at the helm of the Association when a number of legislative measures key to the industry were passed starting with changes in worker compensation in 1993, full card simulcasting in 1996, and the establishment of a sales medication reporting policy in 1998.”
