Santa Anita will offer 24 graded stakes, up from 16 a year ago, including four Grade I races, as part of its 2017 Spring Meet stakes schedule.
Major changes include the track moving its GI Gold Cup S. up one month to May 27 and renaming its GI Vanity Mile as the GI Beholder Mile, in honor of Spendthrift Farm's four-time Eclipse winning mare. The Beholder Mile will be run June 3.
The other two top-level events on the stakes schedule are the GI Gamely S. May 27 and GI Shoemaker Mile June 3, both contested over the Arcadia turf course. The complete Spring Meet stakes schedule can be viewed at santaanita.com.
