Sam Glover, the vice president of sales for the Arkansas-based company U.S. Compounding, faces up to five years in prison at sentencing after being found guilty of one felony count of drug adulteration and misbranding conspiracy at a federal jury trial that concluded in New York last week.
Ray Paulick of the Paulick Report was first to break the news of the verdict.
According to the Paulick Report, “Prosecutors alleged that Glover was part of a conspiracy from 2015-2021 to sell the compounded medication omeprazole/fenbendazole paste, which treats both equine ulcers and intestinal worms, without obtaining prescriptions from a veterinarian who had established a valid client-patient relationship with each horse.”
The Paulick Report story stated, “Glover conspired with Kentucky veterinarian Dr. William A. 'Bill' Baker and Kyle Zorn, then the company's east coast sales manager, to use Baker's name on prescription forms in exchange for what they allege were monetary kickbacks to Baker. The prescriptions were written, prosecutors said, even though Baker had not seen or treated the horse.”
The Paulick Report stated that Zorn and Baker were identified as “co-conspirators” in court documents, but neither was indicted.
