Pyledriver Rerouted To Voltigeur

Trainer William Muir | Tattersalls

G2 King Edward VII S. winner Pyledriver (GB) (Harbour Watch {Ire}) will run in next Wednesday's G2 Great Voltigeur S. at York rather than Sunday's G1 Preis von Europa in Germany as originally planned.

“We were going to Germany on Sunday, but with the heat and all the disruption in Europe at the moment we thought we wanted to give him his best opportunity,” trainer William Muir explained. “We're going to see how we get on in the Great Voltigeur–that's where we're going to go. We'd have had to travel in this extreme heat, and over there it's even hotter.”

Pyledriver finished 11th of 16 in the G1 Investec Derby when last seen on July 4. His Voltigeur opposition is expected to include G3 Gordon S. one-two Mogul (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) and Highland Chief (Ire) (Gleneagles {Ire}) as well as the lightly raced and unbeaten Darain (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}).

“He's in terrific form,” Muir said of Pyledriver. “He looks fantastic and couldn't be better.”
