Preakness Week Events Raise Money for TAA

LARC representatives join the TAA in the winner's circle to present their donation

A series of events and booths during Preakness week in Maryland helped to raise tens of thousands of dollars for the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance.

The festivities were headlined by the fourth annual Pre-Preakness Party presented by America's Best Racing held Wednesday at the Mt. Washington Tavern in Baltimore. The event was sold out and featured a silent auction to benefit the TAA and their 64 accredited organizations across North America. Overall, $3,000 was raised from the auction and ticket sales.

Friday at Pimlico, the TAA booth gave out free gifts in return for donations, and the Maker's Mark Dipping Station distributed two Maker's Mark glasses hand-dipped in the bourbon's iconic red wax for each $5 donation. The two setups raised over $3,200 and the day was capped off by the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Race presented by All Pro Championships in the 12th race on the card.

Saturday featured the Latin American Racing Channel Race Sponsorship to benefit the TAA, and LARC made a $30,000 donation to the organization for the second consecutive year.
