Palace Aims for Vosburg

Palace | NYRA

Palace (City Zip) fired a five furlong bullet in :59.85 Sunday morning over the Belmont training track, leading trainer Linda Rice to believe he is ready for a start in the GI Vosburg Sept. 26. Palace has been on the bench since sustaining a cut after stumbling out of the gate in the John Morrissey S. July 30, but Rice explained that after the breeze Sunday he seems ready to return to the races. “He fell and hurt his foot really badly and it's been quite an ugly wrap,” she said. “We took the whole meet to get healed up. We finally got him back to the breeze tab before we left Saratoga. In his first couple of breezes, he was a little tender on his foot and I didn't think we were going to make the Vosburgh. But, frankly, off of today's breeze, I'd say yes. He was really back to his old self today.”
