Juddmonte sends out a full-sister to Fair Eva (Frankel) | Juddmonte

Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Today's Observations features a full-sister to Juddmonte's Fair Eva (GB) (Frankel {GB}).

2.40 Ascot, Mdn, £12,000, 2yo, 7fT

HERCULEAN (GB) (Frankel (GB)">Frankel {GB}) is a notable Juddmonte newcomer as a son of the G1 Haydock Sprint Cup heroine African Rose (GB) (Observatory) whose full-sister Fair Eva (GB) captured last year's G3 Princess Margaret S. also for this Roger Charlton stable. The April-foaled chestnut meets another unraced Frankel colt in Wadilsafa (GB), an Owen Burrows-trained Shadwell homebred who is a half-brother to the stable's recent G3 City of York S. scorer Talaayeb (GB) (Dansili {GB}) out of the G1 Epsom Oaks third Rumoush (Rahy).

6.20 Kempton, Cond, £6,600, 2yo, 8f (AWT)

ROARING LION (Kitten's Joy) bids to defy a six-pound penalty for his success on debut at Newmarket last month for Qatar Racing Limited and John Gosden. Out of the GI Rodeo Drive S. third Vionnet (Street Sense), he encounters Godolphin's €300,000 GOFNOV purchase Tabernas (Ire) (Dawn Approach (Ire)">Dawn Approach {Ire}), a Charlie Appleby-trained colt whose relatives include the G1 Dewhurst S.-winning sire Intense Focus.

7.20 Kempton, Cond, £6,600, 2yo, 7f (AWT)

Ballymacoll Stud's homebred WILLIAM OF WYKEHAM (IRE) (Arcano {Ire}) is one of six firsters in a field of 11 and represents the Sir Michael Stoute yard in this unveiling. The Newmarket-based conditioner was also responsible for four of his five black-type siblings, including MG1SW sire Golan (Ire) (Spectrum {Ire}) and MG1SP G2 Dante S. victor Tartan Bearer (Ire) (Spectrum {Ire}).

7.50 Kempton, Cond, £15,000, 2yo, f, 7f (AWT)

Godolphin's homebred bay POETIC CHARM (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), who opened with a July 15 maiden score going seven furlongs at Newmarket before running fifth in the Aug. 13 G3 Sweet Solera S. back there last time, is a half-sister to 2006 G1 National S. and G1 Dewhurst S.-winning sire Teofilo (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). Opposed by four and set to start as the short-priced favourite, she lines up for Charlie Appleby.
