An online forum to discuss the benefits of winter racing in New York is scheduled to take place Tuesday, Aug. 18. The New York Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association (NYTHA) is hosting the webinar which features the New York Racing Association's Andrew Offerman and Rob MacLennan.
To be discussed during the session are programs such as the Big Apple Bonus, the Empire Trillium Series and boosted purses for overnight races, as well as housing for assistant trainers. Also on the agenda are the extensive aftercare and benevolent programs available and tips on handing workers' compensation requirements.
“This will be a historic winter meet at the modernized Belmont Park,” said NYTHA President Tina Marie Bond. “Along with a state-of-the-art Tapeta surface, New York will offer increased purses for overnight races across the board, as well as the Big Apple Bonus program that rewards owners and trainers for participating.
“There are extensive aftercare and benevolence programs, and new housing for assistant trainers was recently completed. We are so excited for the upcoming season at this flagship facility, and we hope many of you will consider sending a winter string to New York for the first time.”

The session will be moderated by Bond and NYTHA Executive Director Andy Belfiore.
Registration is required for the one-hour session which begins at 11:30 a.m. ET.
