Norton Triple Treat for Winx

While her campaign may not have commenced the way it was initially planned, Winx (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}) resumes on Saturday in the G1 Chipping Norton S. (1600m) at Royal Randwick, and although she will be first-up over the mile, the distinct lack in quality in the field should see her maintain winning streak–taking it to 23 on the trot. Race fitness may be the only query for the glamour mare, but up against a field of stayers and unknowns, the mare shouldn't have any trouble capturing her third successive Chipping Norton.

The race for second is an interesting one, and G1 Victoria Derby winner Prized Icon (Aus) (More Than Ready) has produced two eye catching efforts over 1400m since resuming from a break, and now up to a suitable distance, the Kris Lees-trained 4-year-old, who was a Group 1 winner as a juvenile over the Randwick mile, looks well-placed.

Gary Moore's Classic Uniform (Aus) (Al Maher {Aus}) really came into his own last preparation, taking out the G2 Hill S. (1800m) before the G3 Craven Plate (2000m), and although his first-up effort in the Apollo S., didn't show much, it would be no surprise to see him improve here.

A dual stakes winner over 2000m, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Stampede (Aus) (High Chaparral {Ire}) looks capable of racing handy and battling away to take a part of the minor money.
