Al Shaqab Racing's Mshawish (Medaglia d'Oro), tuning up for a possible start in the Feb. 6 GI Donn H., worked four furlongs at Palm Beach Downs Sunday in :49.31. A Grade I winner on turf, the 6-year-old is coming off a win over the main track in the Jan. 9 GIII Hal's Hope S.
Mshawish is one of four possible Donn starters for trainer Todd Pletcher. Also expected to be nominated to the nine-furlong race are Madefromlucky (Lookin at Lucky), Itsaknockout (Lemon Drop Kid) and last year's GIII Discovery H. winner Tommy Macho (Macho Uno).
“We have four that are possible,” Pletcher said of his Donn squad. “It's possible one of those could go in the Fred Hooper. Right now we're leaning to the Donn, probably with all four.”
